Spirit of Gheel, Inc.
Since 2009, Christopher has been involved with a project to create a trail system at Gheel House in Pughtown, Pennsylvania. Gheel House is a long-term residential facility for individuals with persistent mental illness, particularly schizophrenia. The larger purpose behind the trail construction project at Gheel House is making the meadow, woodland, and wetland areas available to the residents.
The Gheel House residential building and offices sit on twelve acres of wooded property bordering French Creek in northeastern Chester County, Pennsylvania. Most of the property at this site was unused and nearly inaccessible until the first phase of the trail system was completed in 2009. In January 2014, the current Executive Director at Gheel expressed interest in further development of the trail system to facilitate usage by residents and staff.
